Photographs by Simon Nobes

Whilst out working one evening recently we bumped into a talented local photographer called Simon Nobes, he asked if he could take a picture of us all and here are the results, which we are very pleased with.

Race For Life 2011

Some of our circle participated in the 'Race For Life' 2011. They raised lots of money for Cancer Research, and we are very proud of them.

Beltane 2011

Our Beltane rite was rite held within our own Stone Circle. It was a beautiful rite that was followed by a play written by one of our circle, and caused much laughter. Many of the girls leapt a cauldron of fire at the end, and we then enjoyed the fire skills of Lolly as she trained many of those gathered in the art of fire breathing, the use of fire sticks and fire dancing accompanied by music provided by Neill on his fiddle. It was a fantastic night of fire, feasting and much fun.

Imbolg 2011

We held our Imbolg rite on February the 1st, it was a lovely rite held in our Temple and within our own Stone Circle. The following are some of the words written and spoken by our sisters:

From the dark of midnight comes the dawn,
Let go of the past and let new life be born,
The sun and it's power in strength it gains
And the Earth is beginning to stir once again.
From darkest days and most bitter cold,
Signs of springtime and light now takes hold.
It's time for hope for the days yet to see,
Look to the future my sisters, and blessed we be!

-

The dark months ending now,
Springs sweet smell is on the breeze,
Animals awakening slumber,
The ground beginning to unfreeze,
We ask for blessing of our seeds,
Fertility and fulfilled needs,
Brigid now, we ask of thee as we ignite these candles white,
As years before and years ahead,
Celebrate with us the coming light.

-

An awakening fills the air.
Dear Maiden come be with us near,
Bringing with thee the light side of the year.
As light stregthens we gather near,
For growth and renewal of the year.

Spring water trickles through our earth,
Qwenching each new seed until its birth,
With each new beat the seed doth grow,
Now is the time for us to sew.

As light strenghtens we gather near,
For growth and renewal of the year.

Just as the damp morning mists,
The shadows of winter gently lift.
And in its place the Maiden doth come,
With the renewed power of the Sun..
Blessed Be.

-

Rising from the mists and dreams of winter,

Young, fresh and Bright,

She clears the old outworn away

And within us a spark ignites

She stirs herself awake

Bathing in the sun growing so bright

Let’s celebrate her re-awakening

On this festival of light

-

We celebrate Bridget maiden of light
Guardian of the flame, make candles burn bright

Goddess of fertility, knowledge and healing
Plants and animals flourish making earth more appealing

When spring is awakenend we hear the birds song
Awaiting the return of warmth now winters gone

We look up at the bright promising skies
Seeing signs of hope as snow drops rise

Glittering tears of dew appear at dawn
Ewes bellies stir as the first lambs are born

       Blessed be.

-

The maiden wakes slowly from her sleep

The Earth still held in Winter’s grip.

As the Sun Lord starts to strengthen,

We see the days begin to lengthen.

Snowdrops and crocus shoots pierce the ground,

In sheltered places they can be found.

Newborn lambs gambol in the fields,

The ewe’s milk now tis time to yield.

Spring is on the way at last,

Imbolc is the sign that winter is past.

Rites Of Passage - 10/2/11

On the evening of 10th February 2011 we held rites of passage for four young ladies, to celebrate the beginning of their passage into womanhood. Only the ladies of our circle, and the girls Mothers, participate in these rites of passage, it was a beautiful and emotional night. At the end of the actual rites every female member of the Temple of the Cauldron spoke words of wisdom to each girl, for guidance; and gave them each a gift. The following are a selection of the words, followed by a selection of photographs.

-

As you stand on the threshold of womanhood,

Many decisions lay before you.

What you decide now will map the path of your life.

In these times it is difficult not

To be influenced by those around you.

Heed the voices of the people you know truly care,

And see through the falseness and lies of those

Who just want whatever they can from you.

Though it is hard not to follow the crowd

And do as others do,

Do not be swayed; keep your integrity.

Look inside your heart and have the courage

To know right from wrong, and to say ‘no’, or ‘yes’

As you believe fit.

Don’t rush blindly into new situations,

Take your time, and do things only when you feel

It is right for you.

Don’t give yourself away to those

Who pressure you into action.

Follow your instinct.

The voice of the emerging Goddess inside you

Is never wrong.

Love who you are, stay individual,

Be true to yourself, be happy.

Blessed Be.

-

Your bud of youth is blossoming into the bloom of womenhood
Respect your innner self and treat your body as a temple.
Only giving it to those who can truely show you the love and respect you deserve.

Blessed be.

-

Be always strong and have belief in you

Let the goddess inside shine for all to view.

As you blossom like a beautiful flower,

Inside lies a sacred power.

Do not share this part of you,

With those unworthy

Always stay true.

And never forget your childish ways,

Remember adults all need time to play

-

As you enter into womanhood
many things seemingly become complicated,
the ability to see many situations
for what they are become difficult;
as womanhood is a long process.
Many of us regret how, when
and where we gave way to our
Sacred Space - dont let this be you,
don't mistake lust for love!
Your body is your temple, treat
it well and allow only those
who truely love you the
privilege of touching you.
Blessed Be.

-

We are celebrating that you are accepted as part of the circle of women who offer guidance and support as you journey through your womanhood.

Take your power
Walk your talk
Seek your truth
And be your journey

Please accept this Rose as a token and symbol of the bud of your youth that is maturing into the bloom of womanhood.

Blessed be

-

You are emerging as a young woman
As a bud grows into a flower,
You will soon become an adult,
And learn of your own innate power.

Take your time to mature,
Like the mighty oak to grow,
And treasure yourself; you are your mother's treasure.
Respect yourself and let it show.
Your sisters are here to guide, to help,
And support you in all that you know.

May you have luck and love upon your journey,
May you grow as the years go by,
And knowing you are one with the Goddess,
May you walk with your head held high.
Blessed be.

-

Your body is sacred,
In it resides the goddess,
Do not give it freely,
Treat it as a temple.

Blessed be.

-

I am your sister and also your friend,
From this day forward until the end
May Your young life be full and laden,
Your sacred space is yours to keep.
Your wise sisters say look before you leap!
You are a child of the goddess
Full of vim and vigour
So look after your gift
And also your figure!!

-

Respect your Mother,
For she has given you the gift of life.
Respect your Mother, even when you do not understand her decisions,
With the knowledge that she has already walked through your years.
Keep all that surrounds you in its rightful place,
With the knowledge that strength of mind will follow.
Listen and trust your inner thoughts,
With the knowledge that others will try and influence you.
Keep your body pure.
Do not rush into womanhood.
Take your time to experience your life,
With the knowledge that time is precious and gathers momentum as you gain in years.
Listen to - Learn from- and respect your elders,
With the knowing that they have knowledge of lifes obstacles...

Stay Blessed
Stay Pure

Blessed Be

Statement from the The Temple of the Cauldron

As a group of strongly bonded friends we feel the media recently has misled through misrepresentation and misinterpretation who witches are and what we do.

We do not see ourselves as a religion - it is a philosophy, a way of life, and hence we have no problems with any religion.

We do not worship the devil, we do not believe in the devil.

We do not work in the nude, ever, we do not interpret being naked as being in the nude - this is a mistranslation.

We are not about ego, and just enjoy each others company and spend a lot of time laughing.

However, it is in no way an easy path to follow, it involves a lot of dedication, concentration and study.

A lot of people who call themselves witches are not true witches.

Teachings are never paid for, but given freely to those who seek it in the right way, we do not except anyone who wishes to cause disruption or who is controlled by their ego.

The work is hard, and cannot be learnt from books, instead it is passed down directly.

We have rituals and celebrate certain times of the year, but so do many other people of many backgrounds.

We treat each other as equals, though we do have a High Priestess, Suky, who teaches us and treats us as equals and friends. Her teachings can be found in no book.

We discuss everything as a group, always open and honest with each other. We harm no one, even those who speak ill of us; and closely look after our own - which we believe is a good thing in todays society when very often people seek to manipulate other people, and cause hurt and harm physically and mentally.

Witches have always been persecuted and misunderstood, and it is time for the hate, fear and ridicule to stop - it is shallow and unecessary; love and trust are our guidelines.

Please feel free to discuss this on our forum, and to ask us any questions.

Happy Samhain

Many thanks to Raven Queen for this lovely poem

Happy Samhain
Halloween

Rise oh rise,
Oh welcome to my home
my beloveds.
Fear not
as we worship your ressurection.

Time to remember
the deeds
and the songs
of yours and yours truly.

With a lantern
of sweets
and laughter,
praises and candles
brighten your way.
oh dear ones!

Memories are unfolding
out of the darkness,
smiles and cheers
welcome you here
in the present.

Death, I do not fear
as it will surround us tonight,
calmly and without pain
as we join hands with our loved ones
again.
